Like Shadhin Islam, many in the transgender community face similar challenges. One transgender woman, who became involved in sex work at the age of 15 or 16, has a tragic story to tell. Fourteen years ago, she was diagnosed with HIV and now blames herself for not being aware earlier.
Statistics from DGHS show that high-risk individuals, including men, women, and transgender communities, are the most affected. In 2020, 658 new cases were identified, which has increased to 1,438 this year.

Experts emphasize that early diagnosis and treatment can control the disease effectively. However, this awareness has not yet reached the majority. Young people, in particular, show a worrying lack of awareness, and the infection rate is rising rapidly among them.
